Get Your Own
WWW address - or domain, such as www.YOURNAME.com.
You can register any available domain, for 1 to 10 years, but cannot 'own it.
Nobody owns a domain. There are many misunderstandings about
all this.
Having a registered trademark is no guarantee that you can
register that name, or even your company name.
We can help you get a good one.
Subdomain Hosting is also possible and is sometimes desirable.
An industry related portal (flowers.com in this example) may offer an
address such as
yourname.flowers.com or flowers.com/yourname. But, if they go out of
business,
you will lose your web address. Best to get your own.
Hosting fees
are monthly fees to cover Domain Name Service (DNS)
and allow the hosting company to provide disk space and bandwidth
for your web site so that others who are online can simply type in your
address.
Many hosting companies seem to charge for disk space
with plans for 10 MB, 50 MB, 100 MB, 200 MB, etc.
But this is pretty silly since bandwidth costs more than disk space,
and something like 80% - 90% of all web sites fit in less than 20 MB.
Of course, a large online catalog site can occupy 200 MB or more.
Some sites are made large by sound files, and streaming media files.
Our hosting plans vary according to your needs. Call to discuss.
